Lumenox Games is an indie game developer based in Hafnafjörður, Iceland. The studio is currently working on it's first project - Aaru's Awakening. The game is an artistic hand drawn 2D action platformer which takes place in the dreamy world of Lumenox.
The most noticeable feature of Aaru's Awakening is its unique art style which is inspired from 70's animation films. To achieve this everything is drawn by hand - the animations, the layouts and even the backgrounds. However to accomplish its truly symbolic look Lumenox uses modern technology to color and set up animations and maps. The goal with Aaru's Awakening is to create a euphoric and dreamy experience by playing in the Lumenox universe.
Aaru's Awakening's story will be delivered through narrated cut-scenes which will set the mood and establish the gameplay. The basic plot is that the world of Lumenox is being compromised as Night is threatening the balance between itself, Dawn, Day and Dusk. As a last hope to restore the balance, Dawn sends out its champion - Aaru - to travel through the domains of Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night and defeat the Night deity.
Aaru, the champion of dawn, is a muscular beast that has two unique mobile abilities - teleportation and charging. To teleport, Aaru shoots his soul into the world and teleports to where it lands. These two components intertwine to make the distinctive gameplay of Aaru's Awakening.
To let gamers get a chance to experience Aaru's Awakening and the world of Lumenox we released an early Alpha build demo. The full version is however much improved and offers a learning curve that the demo does not. As a result the demo can be very difficult for some, but it should offer some insight in to the game.
